Do you need a visa for Uganda?
Yes, you will need a visa to visit Uganda as a UK citizen. You can apply for a visa at the Ugandan High Commission in London or you can get an ‘e-visa’ online.
Immigration officers in Uganda will decide on arrival how long travellers can stay in the country for. This will usually be between 2 weeks and 3 months, which should be written in your passport next to your entry stamp. Make sure that you don’t overstay your visa, as this could result in a fine and/or even imprisonment. You can find more information about visas and entry requirements for Uganda here.
Healthcare in Uganda
Healthcare in Uganda is quite limited; you will find the majority of the healthcare services in the capital, Kampala, which will have basic medical facilities.
Although Uganda do have an emergency services line, their response isn’t equivalent to those in the UK. This is why it’s important to make sure that medical travel insurance, including repatriationis purchased before travel.
It’s also important to make sure you speak to your GP at least 4 to 6 weeks prior to travel, to check whether there are any vaccinations or other preventatives needed.
